The A2ii participated in an event organized by the Global Action Network (GAN), and hosted by the International Labor Organization (ILO) to discuss the way forward in achieving greater scale and impact with agriculture insurance. About 30 participants took part including academics, researchers, consultants, donor community, development agencies and industry practitioners. Preliminary discussions centred on how assessment tools created under Global Action Network (GAN) can address challenges inherent to agriculture insurance.

A2ii participated in the last meeting of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) under the German G20 Presidency. A key topic addressed during the meeting was data protection in digital financial services in the light of the G20 High-Level Principles for Digital Financial Inclusion. Members also discussed the financial inclusion of forcibly displaced persons (FDPs).

On 21 September, the A2ii hosted a panel discussion at the two-day Asia Learning Session and Public-Private Dialogue (PPD3) for Asian regulators on the topic of Inclusive Insurance for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The A2ii panel at this event focused on regulatory aspects that can enable insurance for micro and small enterprises and was an exchange between participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, and the SECP of Pakistan. 123 attendees were present.

The A2ii Regional Coordinator for Sub-Saharan Africa attended the Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Africa workshop on InsurTech and innovation which took place alongside the learning sessions on inclusive insurance in Kigali, Rwanda coordinated by Cenfri.
This workshop explored how emerging InsurTech models can address challenges to developing inclusive insurance markets.

As an introduction to the topic, Munich Re gave an overview of microinsurance in Africa; the A2ii presented on inclusive insurance regulatory frameworks in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Access to Finance Rwanda provided insights into the microinsurance market in Rwanda.

A2ii’s Hannah Grant discussed the role of insurance supervisors in market development in a panel moderated by Jonathan Dixon.
Following the A2ii presentation and a series of interventions from the Bank of England, Financial Stability Institute MicroEnsure and the Chinese Insurance and Regulatory Commission (CIRC), the panelists concluded that the sort of support needed from insurance supervisors for market development is depends on the local market context.
