A2ii-IAIS Dialogues
A2ii-IAIS Public Dialogue - From Data to Action: Insights from Nepal

The Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii) has been working closely with insurance supervisors to promote the use of the FeMa-Meter, a practical, Excel-based diagnostic tool designed to assess gender disparities within insurance markets. As part of this ongoing effort, the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) recently completed its application of the tool, producing a valuable dataset that offers new insights into gender dynamics in Nepal’s insurance sector. This was followed by a 2-day policy dialogue in Nepal where A2ii and NIA shared the results with insurance practitioners.
Following the successful workshop in Nepal, A2ii in collaboration with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) is hosting a public dialogue to map out the way forward based on the first results from Nepal’s FeMa-Meter implementation. The session will highlight key findings related to women’s access to insurance, discuss regulatory challenges identified through the process, and explore how supervisors can use gender-disaggregated data to inform more inclusive regulatory approaches.
The dialogue is open to insurance supervisors, regulators, policymakers, industry stakeholders, development partners, and others committed to advancing gender equity in insurance.
It will take place via MS Teams, on the 12 June 2025 12:00PM Kathmandu Time (8:15 CEST)
